Start With Doubts, Finish Brave

Many of us started Run for HER with a lot of self-doubt. We wondered if we’d slow others down, need too many breaks, or show up in the wrong training gear. Although we began with insecurities, we were met with overwhelming support. Each of us finished the trail with renewed confidence and strong friendships that have lasted long after the event.

We started scared, finished brave, and learned that this work and life in general doesn’t have to be done alone.

"I had to get out of my comfort zone to find my purpose again."

“Before training for Run for HER, I didn’t want to do anything. I didn’t want to leave the house or even go to church. Although I didn’t realize it at the time, I had gotten into a routine of doing the same thing over and over and over again and had lost my purpose in life.

“Then, something about the training, the event, and the commitment I had made clicked, and it was life-changing. I had to get out of my comfort zone to find my purpose again.”

“When I committed to Run for HER, I was forced to carve out time to train. That changed my mindset a lot. Even after the event, I make time for myself by getting up earlier. In the long run, I’ve noticed this shift has changed my family dynamic for the better.”

Many of us who participate in RH started the process carrying a lot of self doubt. We wondered if we'd slow others down, if we'd need too many breaks, or if we'd even be able to show up to training in the right gear. We began with insecurities, but we were met with support, and we finished with renewed confidence and strong friendships that have stuck with us long after the event. We started scared, finished brave, and learned that this work and life in general doesn't have to be done alone.

Culture of Encouragement

From its inception, R4H has fostered a culture that affirms your value as a beloved daughter of God—a woman worth fighting for and capable of more than she thinks. It’s a community where newcomers are welcomed and participants uplift and look out for each other.

Group Training

Beyond preparing our bodies to go longer distances, group trainings become a rich soil where deep friendships can form. Conversations flow naturally on the trail, creating a safe space to open up about our lives and offer each other genuine support and encouragement for the unique challenges we each face.

Fitness Resources

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or are starting from square one, we will meet you where you are with resources to help you succeed. Your team captain will be there to offer training plans and practical tips on everything from gear and nutrition to recovery and beyond.

Year-Round Community

Our commitment to building community doesn’t end after we cross the finish line. Even after the season is over, we host off-season gatherings and an annual retreat to provide more opportunities to connect more deeply with God, each other, and ourselves.

Life-Giving Purpose

As we train and fundraise together, you will gain a deeper understanding of the cause and hear inspiring stories of the remarkable women we partner with in Nepal. The difference your miles make in the lives of marginalized women will stay with you, leaving a lasting impact on you long after you cross the finish line.

“I found my people.”

“I felt nervous about training in a group, but Run For HER seemed like a way to get in shape and maybe meet some people. I had no idea this event would become a life-changing experience.

“On the first group run, I started crying. I quickly realized no one was there to compete or judge me. Instead, I felt so moved by the mission and the women sacrificing so much to be part of it. Everyone seemed so ready to support each other, and my once begrudging training schedule quickly became my sacred, can’t-miss routine.

“Through this event, I found my people. I feel more connected locally and globally than I ever have before. I am forever thankful to the Run for HER community for welcoming me and grounding me to become the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.”

“With my family, my job, and everything else going on in life, it’s easy to forget about the grit I have inside myself. Participating in RFH and learning about the women it’s helping has put a fight in me that is still there. It has changed the conversations my husband and I have with our kids, and has changed how our kids look at the world.”

“My biggest fear was not finishing, but the dedicated women in this community helped keep me going. It didn’t matter how fast you finished. No one was getting left behind. It became this sense of community that no matter what this looks like, we’re all in it together. It was amazing to cross that finish line and see my kids there with their hearts in it, too. Seeing how proud they were was just everything to me.”

“I’m a bit of a homebody and introverted, so I was nervous to run and train with other women. I kept asking, ‘Am I going to be fast enough? Am I wearing the right gear? Am I going to slow other people down?’ Any time you’re doing things with other people, it takes a certain amount of vulnerability, but knowing that we were all here for this amazing cause, that brought us all together.”
